Anne Fitzgerald School

Welcome to 2010 !

As we arrive back at school we see that the decorations are put away, families have returned from the holidays and everyone is ready for a New Year. With the start of a New Year, we look back on the blessings and challenges of last year and look forward with renewed hope to the goals and resolutions that we have set for the upcoming year. A New Year also brings new hope, not only for our immediate lives but within the world around us and renewed prayers for peace in our world.

We so appreciate all the families who contributed to our food bank drive for St. John Bosco Church, to our mitten, scarf and hat  ‘ giving ‘ tree, to our students who contributed to the Kids Care Challenge , Sign of Hope Campaign. Our students show great school and community spirit when they reach out to others.

At Anne Fitzgerald we are blessed with a community and staff devoted to the children. At the end of November we held our first assembly where we recognized our students for demonstrating the Catholic characteristic of Community. Our next characteristic that we are working on is ‘ Hospitality’. Our students have been working on this throughout December and will continue to do so during the month of January.

January is a perfect time to focus on the goals that we have set in the area of academics. We continue our literacy focus and are working to becoming better readers and writers. You can help your child at home , by making sure to review their agenda, read with them at home and take time to review their written work .

In the New Year we will participate in an Artist in Residence Program , a Religion residency, an Alberta Art Day for the primary grades, skiing for the upper elementary, French Carnival Day to name but a few of the activities. We are proud of the many opportunities that our school  offers  our students and we continue to thank our Parent Council for their role and support of the many school initiatives and activities that our students receive.

On behalf of the staff, I wish to thank you for the many kindnesses which you should us through your thoughtful gestures, your support and help during our school activities and your good wishes before Christmas.  We wish you and your family a very Happy and Blessed New Year.
